We have all seen Gray colors as a strong trend for the past 5 years, and we feel comfortable that it will stay popular for the future. Consider using gray as your cabinet color instead of white, in a shade from almost white to a deep charcoal. This color becomes a great neutral backdrop for your kitchen or bath and allows you to have fun with accent pieces of furniture or accessories in bright or soft colors.
The choice for counters can be endless, the popular marble or the marble “look” of engineered stone makes this a sophisticated design. The soft gray and warm veins in marble will blend nicely with the gray tones of the cabinetry. Then your choice of a white subway tile splash makes this an instant classic! Or, you may choose to mix up the splash a bit and have fun with some glass or metals, creating a more edgy design.
Counters can also be done in the bright white of engineered stone or glass, or white Thasos marble. This can give you either a low contrast with your light gray cabinetry or a high contrast if you have selected a deeper charcoal cabinetry finish. Your splash choice might then lean to a natural Carrara or calacatta marble, in either a blocky subway or a refined mosaic. If you love the design, it’s the right choice for you. A backsplash becomes the artwork of the kitchen.
The trends in flooring are all leaning towards the gray tones, grayed browns and taupe’s. This blends beautifully with your gray and white kitchen. It could be a natural wood floor, textured or wire brushed or a porcelain material that looks like slate or concrete.
Don’t forget your walls, they need paint or texture too! Consider a wall of wallpaper….we see this trend returning strong! Make your kitchen something your friends will envy!
